A beautiful, barren land where sea meets the desert and forms salt marshes.
Here lives Bakka, a young willful water diviner who knows how to find water in the Desert with his mystic dowsing rods. But his latest predictions haven’t turned out right, making The villagers doubt his talent. His strongest supports are the brothers-sister duo, KAJRI & RAKLA. While kajri is in love with Bakka, Bakka is dreaming about bewitching beauty from the enemy village, KESAR.
JAL is a very special film that bridges the gap between artistic and entertaining. JAL is a high-octane, action- drama with a shocking climax. Shot on an epic, larger-than-life scale, the film is a visual treat and has captured ‘Rann Of Kutch’ like never before.
The music composers of the film are the talented SONU NIGAM AND BICKRAM GHOSH. The songs have been sung by SHUBHA MUDGAL, USTAAD GHULAAM MUSTAFA KHAN, SUZZANE AND SONU NIGAM.
Jal was also the only Indian film to have made it to the prestigious in-competition segment of the recently concluded BUSAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL where it was much appreciated by the International media and audience and was also more recently the official selection in THE INDIAN PANORAMA section at IFFI GOA. Jal also had a special screening at Cannes on the occasion of celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema. It has traveled to numerous other reputed international film festivals across the globe.
Jal received the NATIONAL AWARD 2014 for BEST VISUAL EFFECTS.
Recently it was selected in OSCAR CONTENTION for BEST ORIGINAL SCORE where it has advanced in the TOP 114 FILMS and is also selected for Oscar contention in BEST PICTURE category.
